As he sat on a wooden and metal bench at the Summerton Train Station he began to grow anxious. How would Miss Lupin feel to him waiting for her arrival from the train for seven thirty? Last time Amanda Lupin had arrived at the train station the Black didn’t meet her there and she had given him a lecture on manners. This time he was going to be ready when she came back to the school. His foot began to shake from his nerves as he waited impatiently. James would have brought the dogs, but he did not want the chance of the dogs being able to get hurt. A sigh came from his lips as he laced his fingers together. Not to much to do around here but wait. I don’t know why my leg is shaking so badly. No reason to be nervous or anything like that. His tongue clicked against the rough of his mouth as he continued to wait on the train to arrive at the station. I also have an interview with someone. Crap. Guess I can’t eat for too long at the tavern. James licked his lips as his leg continued to shake rapidly.
A whistle blew making him look up from the cobblestone ground beneath him. He stood up and stretched his legs as the train began coming toward the station. Both hands went into his front pockets while his wand was in his back pocket. Avery Black, James’ father had always told him that was a bad habit to have – putting your wand in your back pocket. You never knew when someone was going to take your wand and use it against you. That was if your wand worked for the thief to begin with. Brown eyes watched the train stop and blow two whistles. His feet spread a part a bit as he felt too much like a soldier standing at attention. Quietly he made a purring sound with his tongue to give him something to do. James saw Amanda Lupin come off the train and he walked over to her. “How was your trip?,” he asked quietly standing before her. “What do you mean by ‘What are you doing here’?” He gave her a look and shook his head. “I came to get you from the station like a good employer does to his employees.” “Let me get your bags,” he said as he pulled out his wand from behind his pocket and waved it around. The bags levitated off the ground and the luggage disappeared.
“And I came to take you to lunch.” The Black put his wand in his back pocket and put his hand behind her back to push her forward. Letting his hand go back on his pocket he began walking next to Miss Lupin toward the Summerton village. “How is your grandfather? Well I hope?” He did not know what to say to her since she could at any second become rude. Perhaps we’ll have a good day today. I’m not in the mood to be badgered by her. James looked to Amanda as they walked side-by-side. “Um…,” he started as he glanced away from her. “The school has been alright. Nothing too exciting has been going on. We have another interview today. Someone wants to take the Defense of Dark Arts class. Other than that the fort has been maintained. Duke was good of course, even when he decided to jump on the table and eat my food.” Amanda’s dog had jumped on the table and ate James’ food when James had turned to tend to Pebbles at dinner. Those four dogs put together were nothing but trouble, but they got along well, which was good. “Of course he missed you. Kept staring at your door until I dragged him away from it. Not even the word ‘treat’ would work to tear him from the door.”
At the tavern he opened the door for her and said, “Ladies first.” Inside he closed the door behind him gently so it would not make a loud noise. One thing he hated was when people let doors slam. It was rude and obnoxious. “You can pick a table. It’s just a table. Get served all the same.” Of course they would get served because his sister owned the tavern they were eating at. And it would not be a free meal just because he had a link to the place. James sat down at the table and picked up a menu. Now what am I craving today? A sub sounds delicious with some ale. A waiter came over and James said, “I’d like to have a pint of of Scotch Ale and a six inch beef roast sub.” He moved the menu between two napkin holders and looked to Amanda to see what she would order. The Black ran his hand through his hair and looked up at Amanda, “Huh?” “Um… I’m not sure really. Thought it’d be a change of scenery I guess.” I wonder why she’s getting so quizzitive about my actions. “I promise it’s not a hidden date or something if that’s what you’re getting at. If I wanted to ask you on a date I would have asked you. This is simply lunch.” Brown eyes looked from the table and looked into Amanda’s gorgeous eyes.
