GOD DAMN MY SPINNING HEAD
DECISIONS THAT MADE MY BED
DECISIONS THAT MADE MY BED
Jennifer Artemis Black felt as if she had been running round like some sort of headless chicken all day. That was the only way to describe how busy the bar had been and how much she had been rushing around the place to make sure everything was getting sorted. She had to attribute the extra amounts of people coming into the bar today to the fact that the weekend was here: it was Friday and people seemed to be finishing with half days every Friday since she had started working at the bar. She didn't remember it ever being this bad when she was a kid and you'd think even something less busy than this would look bad to a kid, but, no, she never thought the bar was ever this busy when her grandfather was running the place. She was finding it difficult to keep her composure in front of the customers as orders and demands changed as she moved about the place. Thankfully, she had a head for information, even down to obscure little details.
She now found herself able to take a breather for five minutes, standing behind the bar and brushing her hands through her long, curly, red hair. She was just thankful that, once again, she had gone for the Converse option as her day's footwear. She could imagine the state her feet would be in had she picked anything else. Maybe she was destined to be one of those landladies that always wore trainers and sneakers and pumps. She wouldn't have a chance to be truly girly looking. She wasn't adapted to heels or proper shoes in the context of wearing them for a long time or having to move around a lot, so she was certainly not going to adapt to them in the context of working around the bar. It wouldn't happen in her lifetime, so, therefore, it would NEVER happen for her. Given the time to just breath, she found her pleasant smile returning to her face as people nodded hello and goodbye to her, the tempo of the bar changing from the mad rush to the lazy late afternoon.
