An air of grace followed Sylvia as she moved from the Nocen Dorm through the dungeons. As many half Veela she had inherited the best bits from both parents, her mothers unnatural beauty and her fathers magic. Her mothers Veela charm was both a gift and a curse. It helped her get things she needed, however it also meant she was hounded by idiots all professing their love to her all day. Sometimes it was amusing, however sometimes it was just an annoyance for her. She was sure however her charms would help her learn what she needed here at the school. She was a serious girl and her affections were not easily won, love was for the weak and she had great things planned... At least her grandmother believed so. Ever since her father died the family a bitterness had spread through them. There was a lot expected from her now and Sylvia took on the challenge with great pride.
School had started well, though rather basic Sylvia enjoyed her classes. Well some of them at least. Her interests were in those magics she could actually use. Potions, Transfiguration and Defence against the Dark Arts. How better to fight a foe with dark magic if you know exactly how they are going to defend it? Of course her knowledge of Dark Magic was very limited, however she was sure she could get some time in the restricted section of the library. There was bound to be some restricted magic there, the only problem would come in trying to get time alone to study it. It was one of the problems she would have to work around whilst surrounded by testosterone fuelled boys who thought they had a chance with her.
Her shoes clicked on the stone and echoed through the dungeons as she made her way up through to the main hall. It almost seemed to be that she was gliding rather than walking. Her long blonde hair flowed with large curls down her back, which seemed to be attracting more attention than usual. She had received an owl that morning from her grand mother, checking on her as usual. She respected her, but sometimes she wished she kept her nose out of things. She paused in her step as she heard footsteps behind her, turning round clutching her books to her chest and a fierce look in her eyes. 'Whos there?' She demanded, a little on edge as she peered into the flickering shadows.

After hanging out with his sister Amanda Lupin and Duke, the dog he decided he would go grab him something to eat. Romolous wanted some time to explore the castle some before it got to dark. Duke had followed him to the Dining Hall and Teddy-Lou made him return back to his sister or to find James, whom Duke seemed to like. He could hardly believe that he got to meet one of the ex-players from the Appleby Arrows. Even though James Black had to quit the sport because of an accident a year ago Romolous and Ted Lupin were still big fans of him. In the Dining Hall Romolous ate a medium rare steak, a baked potato with lots of butter, salt, and pepper, green beans, and some water. Rarely did the youngest Lupin ever drank anything other than water. Sometimes wine that his parents gave him for special dinners. This Lupin sibling was extremely picky eater and wouldn't eat anything he didn't like. As much as his parents tried to show him good manners it did not work for him at all.
Romolous ate his food in silence as he thought to himself. Maybe he should have brought Duke in here or made his sister eat with him. Amanda needed time to get out and have some fun. Perhaps he could ask James to eat with him when he had the time. How cool would that be to eat with an ex-famous Quidditch player? Surely this place was heaven to him. Once Teddy-Lou finished his dinner he watched his plate vanish in thin air. Where did the plates go when they were done? Who cleaned them? Did they just go away once the meal was done? Who prepared the meals? These were things he needed to find out sometime. He wasn't in a rush to learn anything quickly. First he was going to start his way from the bottom of the school, like the dungeons for instance and work his way up to the tallest tower. It would take time to go through everything, specially if hallways changed. Hopefully he wouldn't get lost in the school 'cause no one would notice if he was gone. Well... perhaps maybe Duke would notice and find him.
Out of the Dining Hall he noticed the faithful pet sitting by the door waiting for scraps. "I didn't save ya anything, you. I know you're a garbage disposal, but really now, Duke." With a sigh he shook his head and began walking toward the dungeon steps. "Come on, boy. Don't need people feeding you scraps. Amanda wouldn't like it too much. Come and strangle me before she lays a finger on ya." Romolous put his hands in his jeans as he walked down the steps. His footsteps could be heard echoing in the stairwell. Duke's nails could be heard scraping the stone used for the flooring. "Where should we go first boy?" Since the dog was with him he didn't care where he went and he had someone to talk to, though the dog couldn't talk back. Sometimes he wondered what Duke thought, but he was sure it contained 'Biscuit', 'Good, boy!', 'Fetch!', and 'Food.' At least he was loyal like all good pets and Teddy-Lou couldn't ask for a finer pet than Duke. It was a bright day when Duke entered the Lupin home. Often their mum called Duke the 'Good Child'.
"Who's there?," something demanded.
Duke's ears perked up and Romolous continued going down the hallway. In the flickering light he saw a female standing there. "Just us," he said in his soft tone. Romolous did not know what to make of this girl Duke and him found in the hallway. Her hair was blonde, almost whitish. A very pretty girl he would have to say. Shaking his head he looked away from the girl. His hands went around Duke's collar to keep him from tackling the girl and licking her to death. Anyone that even petted the mutt would be his best friend and the girl probably didn't want a huge Great Dane tackling her to the stone floor. The Lupin pulled his pet along as he walked past the girl. "No, Duke. She doesn't want to pet you or play." "Sorry about that," he said to the girl looking at her and turning away. "Come on, boy. Lets go look." A sigh came from his lips as he tried to get the girl's features out his head. Never had anyone stunned him like that before. It was just a phase and he'd get over it. He was more than sure he would never see the girl again.

The clicking of claws on the stone floor made Sylvia's fingers curl around her wand slightly. She always kept her wand to hand at all times, not only was it so she was always prepared, but her wand was unique for it held a strand of her mothers hair as the core. It made her wand very powerful in charming magics, not that she always needed the extra help. Her wand was part of her, an extention of her arm and she felt naked without it. She didnt care that magic in the corridors was banned, if she needed to she would use magic. She heard the voice before she saw them, a boy and certainly not a threatening one by the sound of it. Her grip on her wand loosened and she watched the darkness, seeing him and the dog. She regarded him suspisiously at first, he wasnt one of her house and it was strange to see others down in the dungeons. He was terribly brave to be in Nocen's territory, a slight smile came to her lips. He was either brave or totally stupid, even with the dog. After all the dog looked like he was more likely to lick someone to death than actually attack.
As he walked past her eyes followed him, her ice blue eyes taking in every movement, almost analysing him. 'I wouldn't go that way if I were you.' Her soft caressing voice reached out through the cold uninviting air. 'Not unless you want to be a Nocen football.' A smile spread across her features, those who knew Sylvia well knew that it was far from friendly, though for those who didnt know her it could mean a number of things. She often found though that it didnt matter what she did, once she had a guys attention they tended to miss small details like that. Although she had learned to use her heritage as a tool she didnt always rely on it, it came in handy though. She wanted to know more about this boy, what the hell he was doing down there would be a start. However Sylvia knew all too well the importance of having 'friends' in all the houses. Even if some in her house thought it was foolish.
The boy was kind of cute, she had to admit that. However she wondered what was in his heart, what his goals and his dreams were. Sylvia certainly fancied a bit of a game, and not only could it be fun but she could get some handy information from this one in time. She slowly reached out her hand to the dog, her blond curls fell forward framing her face perfectly. It came in handy being able to have some control over her hair. She found some boys were total suckers for the perfect hair... to go with the perfect face naturally. 'No need to apologise.' Her eyes briefly flashed up to his for a second before looking back to the dog. She was a master at her art and she reveled in it, she had broken so many hearts in her life and she took a sadistic pleasure in it. Others had always told her that one day she would find someone that she wouldnt want to hurt like that. However she doubted it, watching them break was just far too fun.
'I wasnt even aware students were allowed to keep dogs in their dorms.' She commented off handedly. The Nocen pupils werent really the dog types, they were more serpent people or creatures with more sinister agendas. She had no pet as of such, unless you counted the boys that followed her and worshiped the ground she walked on. One thing she didn't brag about was her history and what exactly she was. Although of course the members of staff knew she was half veela most of the students never thought of it. They were too busy drooling to care even if someone told them most of the time. Being constantly hounded was a pain, but it was fun at times. She liked leaving an impression and she certainly always managed that. She straightened and gently pushed the lock of hair behind her ear as she smiled to the boy. 'I don't recognise you, I find it hard to believe we have not seen each other in passing before?' She commented softly relaxing her posture to a more welcoming position.

With Duke at his waist he continued walking down the hallway. The girl advised him not to continue or he would end up a football. "I think I'll be fine. Thanks for your concern though," he said nonchalantly. No threat would frighten him. Growing up with an older brother taught him a bit and toughened him up. Jonathan was a hard guy to follow when he was younger. There was an eleven year age gap between Romolous and Jonathan, but they managed to get along. Whatever his older brother could do the youngest Lupin could do in Teddy-Lou's mind. A sigh came from his lips as he petted Duke's head. "What you sniffing out, boy? Find something interesting. Go see, Duke." The Great Dane left him to go see what was going on in the dungeons. Barely did Duke ever leave his owner's sides for anything unless they commanded him too. Perhaps if he was good enough someone would give him part of a hamburger or something. If they didn't; James would. Romolous ruffled his hair with his hand and he heard the girl's voice again near him.
"Technically this is my sister's dog. James, the headmaster, said she could keep it as long as it kept her happy. So she gets to keep it in her office." Why couldn't this girl just leave him alone? She was making him have this affect that he didn't like. Romolous was not like his older brother and thought that every girl was a piece of meat that you should date at any chance you get. This Lupin didn't find every girl date material, but more like siblings. Very rarely did he find someone that he was attracted to, but this girl made his heart strings pull. Trying to keep his eyes from her. The girl spoke again and he could feel butterflies in his stomach grow bigger. "I just got to the school last night so that's probably why. First year and all," he said not looking at her, but straight forward to keep his eyes on his sister's dog. "Duke!, don't go too far." He knew that animal wasn't going to listen to a word he said. Once that dog was on the trail he was on the trail for good until you pulled him away from whatever it was he was getting at.
Duke sped off without a warning of any kind and it made Teddy-Lou panic. "Excuse me," he said politely and ran after Duke. "DUKE, GET YOUR TAIL BACK HERE! You can't be getting lost in a place like this! Amanda will kill me! Want a biscuit, boy?" Stupid dog. Good for nothing. Gonna have to get him a leash. Oh why didn't we train him on a leash. All Amanda's fault as far as I'm concerned. The dog took to her and she took to it faster than light. His footsteps could be heard loudly as he followed the animal down the hallway and then another corridor. "Duke! Get over here right this instant. I'll go get Amanda." A sigh came from his lips as he slowed down to a walk. So out of shape. You'd think all the walking from exploring I do would be enough. Romolous fixed his hat and then the sleeves of his flannel. What was the poor boy to do when his sister's pet wouldn't return? Why on earth did his father have to bring a dog like him home? One that liked to take off 'cause it found a scent to follow.
Hearing barking he continued to walk toward the sound. "Duke, come here boy. You don't need to follow whatever it is that you're getting at. If you get hurt Amanda is gonna have my head. No one is gonna feed you scraps underneath the table at this rate." Teddy-Lou gave up trying to get the dog back. He wasn't going to listen to him and he was just saying useless information. Good grief this place is dark. Wonder if they would have a better lighting than these torches. They don't give off too much light out here in the darkness. Romolous rubbed his arms feeling slightly chilly as he continued down the corridor. As he walked he tried to get that girl out of his head. Why was he continuing to think about her? Usually he forgot about a girl once the conversation was over. There was just something about her that was flawless. Nothing was wrong with her appearance at all. He shook his head trying to get her face and voice out of his head. She is not someone you want to get to know anyway. She looks like a younger version of Jonathan. Footsteps were heard again and he turned around.

A thin smile graced Sylvia's lips as he said he would be fine, she had heard that many time before. Nocen's werent exactly known for their social skills with the other houses. She had seen many a first year fall prey to the older Nocen kids, even those from their own house werent always safe. Sylvia on the other hand found they left her alone, once again she put that down to the Veela blood flowing through her veins. She watched the dog as he sniffed around, the dungeon was very large and even she hadnt explored it all. There was part of her that hoped to find hidden secrets in there, perhaps this dog had picked up something interesting. She looked back to the boy with a glint in her eye as he said his sister kept the dog in her office. 'Office? Your sister is a teacher?' She probed gently. Well if she was this could be too good an oppertunity to miss! She let her fingers idly reach up and curl through her hair as she pondered the possibilities this boy opened up. Sylvia hadnt been at the school for overly long and she had certainly never seen the dog before. He certainly seemed to be a rather dumb creature, Sylvia prefered more interesting pets. She sighed softly as she thought about how cool it would be to have a Basilisk as a pet... She couldnt speak Parcel Tongue but it would still be cool.
'Yes thats probably why then...' She had to fight the smirk trying to force its way onto her face as she saw how he was trying to avoid eye contact. Her first few days at Wexford had been pretty easy, except from everyone trying to get her attention. Things had settled down a little now, only a little though. It had been a little lonely at first, she couldnt deny that she missed her grandmother, and she didnt have any siblings. However she was strong and she would cope, she always did. It wasnt like she wouldnt be short of people who would be over the moon to hang out with her. Generally she liked her solitude, but company every now and then wasnt a bad thing. She watched as the dog raced off; the boy following after. She couldnt help but chuckle a little as he excused himself. He certainly had manners, though the dog didnt. She heard him shout after Duke, that dog certainly needed a little training. Though perhaps his sister didnt have the time to do so. Letting a dog run around a castle filled with magic wasnt the best idea.
She turned to head to the great hall but paused for a second instead. This boy had perked her interest and she couldnt help but feel he could get something rather useful. She sighed lightly before flicking her hair from her face and heading off after the boy and his dog. The shadows were getting darker, she was used to the flickering corridors of the dungeon and she was always prepared for the darkness. She pulled out her wand and with a slight flick of her wrist she whispered 'Lumos!' watching as the end of it glowed. She smiled and proceeded, it was a spell she had much practice in, so simple and yet so useful. She followed the sound of the boy talking to the dog, trying to bribe and reason with it. 'I dont think hes going to listen to you.' She calmly stated. The light from her wand lit up her face perfectly and she managed to get her first good look at the boy. 'The names Sylvia by the way.' She offered lightly, her crystal blue eyes took in the boy further. She turned to look into the shadows as she heard the dog bark again.
She moved towards the sound 'Perhaps your dog has found something, they say there are many hidden things to be found in the dungeons.' She commented softly as she held her wand high, shedding some extra light down the stone corridor that Duke had run off down. She slowly started to follow, her fingers holding onto her wand slightly tighter. The wand was unique and she loved it, it had been carved delicately and was far more decorative that the normal wand you bought in the shops. A smirk spread across her face, she could imagine this was exactly the kind of thing her dad would have done when he was alive, go hunting in the dungeons. There was a huge part of her that really hoped they found something exciting in the darkness, she had never really gone exploring in the dungeons yet... She turned round to the boy and her eyelashes fluttered a little 'You coming? Perhaps we might find something...' She chuckled musically as she turned and moved down the corridor.
