It was a cool day at the Academy and Jensen was still very new to it and had been itching to go exploring. So on this particular morning, Jensen had set aside to go exploring the grounds. She hadn't began teaching yet and she was already through organizing the classroom. She already made her lesson plan, lessons, and quizzes. She was going to be ready for the entire term and couldn't be more happy. The classroom was clean and everything was in order, extra textbooks were in the room in case a student wasn't able to buy a book. And Jensen was completely prepared for when the term started.
Jensen walked out of her small apartment, which was nestled behind her classroom and her office. She had to walk through both to get to the main hall that would eventually lead her through the main doors that led out into the estate of Wexford Academy. As she walked, she past by numerous objects, all of which was very interesting. Some objects she was used to, for instance the talking portraits whom were having a ball talking to each other. Jensen just smiled and kept on walking down the stairs and through the great big doors. Finally she was outside and the fresh air hit her like a hurricane. She loved fresh air and she decided that she would visit Delphine's Mystic Garden. I wonder why it is so "mystic".
Jensen finally made it to the entrance and noticed that it was a maze of luscious greenery and flowers. Jensen instantly felt at home and took a deep breath in. There were so many sweet smells, some were recognizable, while others were not. Jensen walked through the large garden and let her slim, long hands flow freely, letting the tips of her fingers touch the petals. She knelt down to smell the sweet, seductive scent of a beautiful deep red rose and was instantly taken back to the time when she was never in love.
Jensen continued to walk deeper into the garden until she reached the center. There was a marble-stone bench that looked so uncomfortable but so elegant that Jensen just had to sit there. She walked up and gently sat her small, slender body on the far left of the bench. Looking from her position, she could see the entire garden and smell every single sweet scent. Jensen was at home here and felt like she never wanted to leave. And then she heard footsteps, someone was coming. She wasn't alarmed, she was just shy. Jensen looked down at her feet and wondered how she could get away without someone seeing her.

Brown eyes looked down at the paperwork on his desk. All of the work on his desk needed to be done by late tonight or else he would never finish it. Miss Lupin had been down this throat this morning when he came into the Dining Hall to eat earlier. She talked about how he was unprofessional walking into the hall in his pajamas. Somehow he was grateful he hadn’t walked into the Dining Hall in only his boxers. His mother was even lucky if he put on more than his boxers back at home. There was nothing wrong with just walking around in them when no one was around. Hell he’d wear them around Amanda and not regret it if she wasn’t so uptight about everything there was in the world. One day she would have to let loose and let the crumbles fall where they may. If not she would find herself having stomach ulcers or something. James let out a sigh as he began reading over materials that pertained to the school and how things were ran. Normally he would use a pen like a Muggle would, but he had to do things the wizard way which called for quill and ink.
At the bottom of the parchment paper he signed his name. His handwriting could have been better, but he wasn’t about to change it for anyone. Plus, he couldn’t help how he wrote at all. In the end he would just change it back to how he had been writing. Years playing Quidditch he had to learn how to write nicely when he signed things. To be honest he hated signing anything like posters. It was nice that people were fans of what he did, but he didn’t like signing. James always thought of it as him signing his life away on something. And who knew what people did with those posters afterwards. The Black didn’t care to know because he was sure it would make him shudder and regret knowing in the first place. At least those days were over and now the only thing he had to sign was his name to papers. How many more of these would he have to read and sign to? He was starting to get antsy sitting down like he had been. What could he do to distract himself for a little while? Well I better not procrastinate. This needs to be done as boring as it is. The job description for being headmaster of a school didn’t say it was fun and easy.
Scooter, one of his three dogs, was putting his paws on James’ leg so that he would be picked up. “Down, boy. I can’t play right now. I’m working. Why don’t you go play with Pebbles and Bam-Bam?” As much as he wanted to play with his pets he couldn’t at the moment. He could hear Bam-Bam scratching at the door to be let out. Well maybe I should take them out so they can play and not be getting in the way. And they said it was best to get rid of all distracters so you could concentrate on what you were doing so that it could be done. Getting up from his desk he grabbed a frisbee from a drawer full of dog toys and he whistled which called the dogs over to him. “Want to go outside, boys?” Of course they want to go outside. That’s what they had been scratching and barking over for the last hour. James put on his shoes and grabbed his sunglasses so that he sun wouldn’t blind him. Scooter again put his paws against James and barked against him. “You’re such a baby, you.” Rolling his eyes he bent down and picked up the dog under his legs and held him like a baby. He made a kissy noise at the dog and Scooter licked James’ cheek. “Who knows where you have been licking, mutt.”
When he opened the door Pebbles and Bam-Bam ran out of the room as fast as they could down the hallway. Shaking his head he continued to hold Scooter in his arms, but now placing him against his body and held him with one hand. “You two wait up. I won’t tell you again,” he said. Looking toward the one in his hands he said, “What did I do to you boys to make you act this way? Spoil you rotten I do.” He walked behind his pets as he went down the staircase to the first floor. “Well you can’t get out the door until I let you out.” Bam-Bam barked happily since he had been ready to go outside. Pebbles jumped a bit at the door trying to open it with his mouth and paws. James gave the frisbee to Bam-Bam to calm him down. “Hold this, okay?” He opened the door and the two dogs ran out. They (Pebbles and Bam-Bam) began playing with the frisbee as James walked a little ways behind them. “You’re a Daddy’s boy aren’t you, Scooter?” He chuckled a bit and walked toward the garden so he could keep an eye on his animals. Wouldn’t want them ruining Amanda’s garden now would we?
In the garden he saw a female sitting down on a bench. Must be a teacher or something, he thought to himself as he walked closer to her. Pebbles came back with the frisbee and handed it to James who in return tossed it in the air. Scooter barked a bit since he wanted to play too. James Black let the dog go play with his friends as he walked over to the bench. “Hello,” he said to the female in the garden. She looked rather shy and he couldn’t see why she would be. James looked away from the women and looked to his pets. Scooter came back with the frisbee and sat it at James’ feet. “Want me to throw it, huh? What good are you, Scooter?” The pet barked in reply and James tossed the toy again and Scooter ran after it along with Pebbles and Bam-Bam. “Are you the Muggle Studies professor that Amanda hired?,” he asked casually trying to make a conversation.

Jensen crossed her ankles and leaned forward on the bench, she didn't know what to do. She hated being skittish, she hadn't been skittish in years, she thought being a Ravenclaw Prefect had broke her of that cycle. Jensen took a deep breath in and let it out slowly, and somewhat heard the muffled noise of the man talking to her, trying to make conversation. Jensen relaxed and sat back gently, she looked up at the man and noticed that he had a dog. A rather large dog and then she noticed that he had two others, she didn't like big dogs. Not since she was bitten by two German Shepards when she was fiften years old, no one was around to save her. She couldn't use magic outside of school and even if she wanted, her wand was in her room, she was outside. Jensen felt a chill go through her body as the damp, cold memory of salvia and loud barking tunneled through her body. She could feel her face and body turning a pale white, paler than the colour of a sheet of papr. She barely heard the man ask if she was the Muggle Studies Professor.
Jensen looked up at the man and squinted, light poured on her and she instantly felt better. She could feel the bad memory being chased away and the colour coming back to her cheeks. Jensen nodded politely and realized that he was the Headmaster. She couldn't remember his name, just that he was supposed to be young and barking mad, so said some people in a pub she stopped in on her way to Wexford for a warm soup and a water, also a place to stay for the night. She couldn't understand why everyone thought he was barking mad, he didn't seem that way to her. Just because he was young doesn't mean that he was crazy to be re-opening Hogwarts and renaming it Wexford.
Jensen stood up and smiled politely, she didn't really know whar else to do. She stared into his deep brown eyes and offered hiom her hand. "Hello, nice to finally meet you Headmaster. I am indeed the new Muggle Studies Professor, Jensen Evans. You'll have to forgive me, I've been on a long journey, I don't seem to remember your name." Jensen said as she raised her brow questioningly. As she held her hand out for the Headmaster to shake, she heard the distant barking of three hyper dogs. Jensen smiled and was thankful they were not near.
"Just out of curiousty, they aren't harmful? They won't bite will they? I'm sure they are nice and all, it's just i'm very skittish around big dogs and I classify your dogs as big dogs." Jensen said as she shrugged apologetically. Jensen let go of the Headmaster's hand and let her hand fall flowingly down by her side, she began to wonder when more students would sign up for her class, she always been one to get easily distracted. Jensen looked back at the Headmaster and hoped that she didn't offend him, she hated making first bad impressions and wanted nothing more than to please him. But it was hard when three big dogs were around, Jensen nibbled on her bottom lip and wondered how to change the subject before it got worse and she was sacked.
Jensen looked in the directin in which the dogs ran, she could seem them playing far out. She tried to think of a way to recover the conversation. "Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, all sorts of small dogs, that is. And I love looking at pictures and watching television about all types of dogs. But up close, I just get real afraid, it's just something that happened to me when I was a young teenager and I never fully recovered from it." Jensen said as she glanced back at the Headmaster, hoping that would help matters and not make them any worse than what they are.

This is a weird one, he thought to himself as he used his right hand to shake Miss Evans’ hand. “You don’t need to call me headmaster. I’m a bit young for that I think. James will do,” James said smiling a bit. She seemed to be rather off at the moment and he didn’t know what to do about it. It was either he was intimidating, which was likely or she had committed a murder and was hiding from Azkaban. That one was probably unlikely since she looked too skittish to even manage hurting a fly. James let go of her hand and put his hand back into his pocket. His brown eyes drifted back to his animals until the new Muggle Studies professor began talking again. “These dogs? No, no, no.” As the time progressed he was thinking she was a murderer of some sorts. She thinks these dogs are big. I need to bring Duke out here. That’d be a hoot! It would be a jerk thing of him to do, but he would do it just to see what would be Miss Evans’ reaction to the dog. “They won’t bite you, promise. Pebbles, Bam-Bam, and Scooter there are very well behaved when they want. Wouldn’t hurt anyone unless they thought the person as a threat to them.”
Scooter came back with the frisbee and sat it at Jensen Evans’ feet. “She doesn’t want to play with you,” he said bending down to pick up the frisbee then tossing it into the air for the animal to fetch. “Excuse, Scooter there. He thinks everyone wants to be his friend when they look at him.” James walked over to another bench near the Muggle Studies professor’s bench and sat down. He slouched as his elbows touched his thighs. “It’s quite alright. If I had known someone was afraid of them I wouldn’t have brought them out.” And that was a lie. James would have made sure he had Duke with him just to start something. “I’m sorry that happened to you. Stuff like that shouldn’t happen to people at all.” He had never had a bad experience with any animal of any kind growing up and wanted to keep it that way. The young Black liked all animals and wished he could take home every stray animal, but he didn’t have the funds and nowhere to put them. His mother and father would have a field day if James brought home even one more animal than the three he already had.
Once the frisbee was caught Peebles came back and jumped on James so he could sit in his lap. “Do you think you’re a lap dog or something, Pebble-Head?” His father had warned him of this happening. “If you keep putting that dog in your lap it’s always going to think of itself as a puppy and a lap dog,” his father would say, but did James listen? Of course not. Bam-Bam and Pebbles were medium-sized dogs and thought of themselves as Scooter-size, which was very not so. Pebbles got himself situated and wagged his tail. James slouched by leaning back against the bench and putting his arms around the black dog so it wouldn’t fall over. “Happy now? You oughta be because you’re hella heavy, mate.” Why couldn’t they all be small sized? It would make them a lot easier to hold and carry. Often he did feel bad that he held Scooter like a baby and not the other two. Bam-Bam came back with the frisbee and dropped it at Jensen’s feet. He sniffed her a bit and wagged his tail as he sat down. “Come here, boy,” said James trying to get the golden dog over to his bench. “She doesn’t want to play any of your games. Pebbles and you are something else. You have each other to go play with. Now shoo.”
Feeling like Pebbles, the black dog was too heavy he pushed the dog off his lap. “Oh you drooled on me,” he said in disgust, but humor at his pet. James picked up the frisbee and tossed it again, but neither of the dogs went after it. “I’m not going to go get it. You all wanted to come out here and frolic, and here we are. Now go frolic.” I’ve got something else as pets. Got totally different personalities than any other animals I have ever seen. Don’t get him wrong. Scooter, Bam-Bam, and Pebbles were smart as all get out, but they were so intelligent they were stupid as hell. He got up from the bench and began casually walking over to the dog toy. For now he would just put it under the bench until it was time to go inside. When he came back he found Scooter trying to get all cute and cuddly with Miss Evans. “Just push him off if you don’t want him near you. A little shove and he’ll get the picture.” With his hands he began ruffling Bam-Bam’s fur and scratching him behind his ears. “Who’s a good boy? Who’s a good boy?” He wondered what animals would say in response to that. Probably something like, ‘I am, Sherlock’ or something to that extent. James continued to pet one of his dogs as he sat down on the bench. “Getting so big. I remember when we brought you home you rotten thing.” Often he talked to his pets like they were babies, ‘cause in his eyes they were.

Jensen listened as the headmaster replied, so they weren't harmful. They were just big and extremely playful. Jensen felt a lot better, but would have felt ten times better if the dogs weren't all around her legs begging to be played with. Jensen looked downed into one of the dog's big eyes and wondered what it was like to be a dog, to be confined in such a body. Jensen would hate it, but not knowing how it would feel to be a human or anything else, how else are you supposed to feel if you are a dog? Jensen let a small smile slip from the edge of her lips and play into a full smile, but hid it before James could see. He called the golden one away and the others ran away to play.
Jensen took a seat on the opposite bench from James and listened to him speak to the one named 'Pebbles'. What an odd name for a boy dog. Jensen thought sadly to herself, poor thing needed a manly name, not a girly name. Jensen kept her thoughts to herself and smiled at the 'father' and 'son' as they loved on each other. She could tell that James and Pebbles loved each other dearly. Jensen started to wonder if she should get herself a pet, a small one. A bird, perhaps, or a cat. Jensen is a shy woman and a cat is good company. Jensen glanced back at James and wondered where he purchased his children, she wondered if he would suggest the same place for her.
As Jensen wondered in la la land, the small black dog hopped on Jensen and started to push Jensen's arm up so it could stick it's head under her arm and she would have to pet it's head. Jensen finally got the picture and started to happily pet the cute, small, fuzzy, black dog. Then she heard the headmaster tell her if she didn't want to pet the dog, to just shove him off. So the cute, small, black dog was a boy, eh? So she could finally stop thinking it was an it and think of it as a him. She smiled and looked at James. "No, he's fine, not bothering. Oh, James?" Jensen gave the headmaster a second to give her his full attention before continuing. "Where did you purchase your "children"? I like this one and i've been thinking about purchasing a small animal." Jensen inquired as she continued to gently pet the dog's head. He rolled over on the bench, an act that obviously meant that he wanted his belly rub. Jensen gave in and started to rub his cute belly and noticed his tongue hung out the side of his mouth. Jensen giggle a small laugh and kept on petting.
Jensen looked at her clothes and noticed that she had dog hair all over them. She did not like that at all. She remembered that her mom had a cat when she was a child and had once said of getting another because the one she had rarely shed. Jensen wanted to inquire at a pet shop if all cats shed hair or just some and which ones that don't, she'll try to find and buy one. As long as it wasn't a hairless cat, she just felt sorry for those cats.
