[/size]James Black is a down to earth type of guy with his feet firmly on the ground. Usually isn’t one for fighting unless he absolutely has to, especially if it comes down to his younger sister Caileigh. He is always honest, even sometimes extremely honest being blunt. Sarcasm seems to be his second language besides English, which is his first. James is loyal to his best friends to the bitter end and looks for nothing for himself. He will stick up for anyone that needs help. Being sorted into Ignis in his school years would suggest that he has courage and bravery in him. Barely ever is he actually serious unless he absolutely has to be. When he is not joking is when he’s extremely pissed off. He admits sometimes he can be immature. Lives life with no regrets since he finds every situation as a learning experience. Used to be a player (and cheat) in his school years, but no longer finds being that way acceptable.

Avery and Julia Black gave birth to their first born in London, England, United Kingdom on the 28th of November 1986. The Blacks named their son James Alastair Black. James after Avery’s middle named (James originally comes from James Potter, Sirius Black’s best mate) and Alastair comes from Julia’s father’s first name: Alastair McGregor. James Black is Sirius Black’s grandson by James’ father: Avery James Black.
Born and raised in London, England James lived in a high-upper class home near Muggles and wizards. Julia and Avery believed that their son should share their views on Muggles. They believed Muggles were just as important as wizards. Interacting with them would help their son learn about them and come to terms that they were not like him and that it would always be that way. Grown up James has a neutral feeling toward Muggles for he is not like them, but they do not bug him one bit. If he happens to meet one in the street then he acts like he would any other person. Though he is very fond of their technology and owns a cell phone, iPod, and a truck.
Before he could even walk or run James was brought up on a broomstick thanks to his father. Avery believed that boys should be athletic so he started his son off at a very young age. Little did he know that his son had a gift at the game of Quidditch. By the time he was four he could play every position in Quidditch, though he is known for his position as a Chaser. His first word was even Quaffle which he said, ‘Affle.’
At six years old his sister Jennifer Artemis Black was born. When his sister was first born he thought of her as an attention taker and didn’t much care for her. Eventually, when she could play on the floor James took a liking to her. Now that he finally had someone to play with other than his (moving) Quidditch figures. Whenever Jennifer put the figures in the mouth James would throw a tantrum like no other. Sometimes you could see him run to his parents with a figure broken because of his younger sister. As he got older he grew quite protective of her and doesn’t think anyone is good enough for her.
Education was in his best interest, at least his parents felt that way. James, along with Jennifer, was educated at home by a tutor or two. Avery and Julia Black made sure their son was an intelligent young gentleman by the time he was sent off to Wexford Academy. He was taught about how the Muggles survived without magic and how the wizards lived. James was taught about kings and queens of England, and taught of the Ministers of Magic. Sometimes James was forced to go with Avery to work to be more educated. Avery James Black continues to work at the Ministry of Magic in London in the department of Magical Law Enforcement Squad.
When the young Black was not in the library studying he was playing Quidditch in the backyard with his father or sister. Often his father was more of a coach than an actual parent. Julia often believes that Avery pushed James too far was in younger and made him too determined, and suicidal when it came to the sport of Quidditch. Avery took James and Jennifer to every world cup every year.
At eleven James Alastair Black received his letter to attend Wexford Academy of Magic in Scotland. Proud of their son they bought his supplies right away, but made him study his books before he left to get on the train to Wexford. James was glad to be able to leave home and not be around his parents. For once he would like to study when he wanted. His heart belonged to Quidditch while it seemed his mind was becoming nothing but book-worthy. He was sad that he had to leave his younger sister behind and couldn’t wait to come back for the holidays.________________________________________
Arriving at Wexford Academy James was sorted into the house of Ignis; their symbol is a phoenix. Ignises are found to have a deep heart, bravery and courage. His parents were hoping that he would be sorted into Maior, but they were proud none-the-less of their first-born. Since James could not play Quidditch his first year he was often exploring the school, making banners for the Quidditch team, studying, or hanging out with friends. For him the first year went rather slowly and he often wondered if the wizarding world was for him. There was so much to learn, but he couldn’t disappoint his family. He studied: Transfigurations, Potions, Defense of the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Charms.
In his second year James met many more friends like Jonathan Lupin who was a Quidditch player for Ignis. James joined the Quidditch team as a Chaser when try-outs came at the beginning of the year. So proud of his son Avery bought him the latest broom, against his wife’s decision. James continued to excel in his classes since he wasn’t allowed anything but the highest grade. He studied his core classes along with: Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and History of Magic. Not too much went on his second year besides causing some trouble, studying, and Quidditch.
Third year was nothing but a blur to the Black. He began dating frequently and a reputation was starting to form from it. James continued to be on the Quidditch team and was on the practice field everyday until he no longer could see the Quaffle being tossed around. He took more classes like: Astronomy and Arithmancy. Against his wishes he had to sign up for the Dueling Clubs. Often he was found without sleep between practice, clubs he was in, and studying for his many classes.
As he entered his fourth year he knew it would be a crazy year. James had already broken many hearts at the school, but was often found with a girl hanging around his arm. He had to take the class Dark Arts that he found the most interesting and considered working for the Ministry in Law Enforcement, like his father. Quidditch continued to be his main priority in his life, but his grades did not drop one bit. A couple times he had been found in the library after curfew due to needing books for his homework.
Fifth year was another year that passed rather quickly for James. Dating really took a turn when he was often found in empty classrooms with females. Detention became one of his favorite pastimes against his dismay. His parents didn’t approve of his behavior, but they knew he would do what he wanted when he wanted. James continued to date any female he could and started dating multiple women at the same time. When the females found out they could be found slapping the Black or throwing drinks at him. Still females found him attractive and tried to get their chance at dating him. He took all the classes that his parents made him with no complaints because it was a losing battle for him. Quidditch was the only time he found he could be himself and was always on the field. The last week of school came as a surprise to him because his best friend – Jonathan Lupin, was graduating and made him captain of the team.
If you asked James what his favorite year was at Wexford he would have to tell you his favorite year. Jennifer Black joined Wexford Academy and was sorted into the house of Ignis also. His sister even joined the Ignis Quidditch Team as a beater. She joined first year when the team saw James and her play against each other on the field. The team decided that she should be on the team, though normally first years weren't on the team. James was the Ignis Quidditch Team’s captain, his father finally let him out of the Dueling Club to concentrate more on being a captain, and he dated more women. But with every female he cheated. There was not one single girl that had not been cheated on. It surprised him though that females continued to want to be with him, but he wouldn’t complain. James was not allowed to drop any of his classes though he had passed all his O.W.L.s with quite high marks in his fifth year.
His final year at Wexford was his saddest year. One, he had to leave all the females behind. Two, he would be giving up being captain of Ignis. What made him happy was: One, no more classes. Two, he could go on to join the Quidditch league once he graduated. At the end of the year he took his N.E.W.T.s and did not receive the highest in the class, but about the third. That was much to his parent’s disappointment, but James didn’t care since it wouldn’t matter in the world of Quidditch. Upon graduating he gave his captain title over to an upcoming sixth year.________________________________________
Right out of school James Alastair Black joined the Appleby Arrows, a Quidditch team for England. He became one of their star Quidditch players. Often he was found on the practice field or with a woman in his arms. At home his mother would criticize his living and would tell him to change his habits before he got hurt. Of course he didn’t listen to his mother’s advice until later on in his career and life.
In his third year out of Wexford James (and admits) that he fell in love with a girl named Alexis Kimberly Ashford. Now this is something that no one knows about James, but James. This is one of the secrets that he keeps to himself because he doesn’t want to tell the whole story, but this girl is the reason why he no longer cheats. James had fallen for Alexis and they were together for many, many months. At twenty-one he knew he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. He had almost proposed to her when he learned a secret: she had been cheating on him since they had started dating. Alexis had been the first girl he had never cheated on, and was his last girlfriend to this day. Finally he had the game turned on him and he realized how crummy it was. To this day he refuses to cheat on any girl, if he ever decided to date again.
Two years later at twenty-three an accident happened during a game between the Appleby Arrows and the Wimbourne Wasps. The Beaters and two of the Chasers from the Wimbourne Wasps had attacked James. His shoulder had been dislocated in many places, his nose had been broken, and some of his ribs had been cracked. His Quidditch days were finally over before he had even reached his prime. Though he had been healed by magic he still has scars from the accident. Wanting to forget about the accident he had two tattoos put on him – tribals. One is a half sleeve on his right arm and another tribal on his ribs.
For a year James went into denial and depression. He lived at his parent’s home in London not wanting to live out on his own. James took a job in the Muggle world at an athletic store. Often he was found in his room, at work, or watching television. The Black didn’t talk to any of his friends from school or any of his Quidditch mates. How could he show his face again, though the accident had not been his fault? Finally sick of her son mopping around the house Julia put in an application for him to become the headmaster at Wexford since the school was in dire need of a new headmaster. James was in the mist of putting in an application in the Law Enforcement at the Ministry, but he received the job as the headmaster first before he could get an application in.
Against his wishes James Alastair Black is back at Wexford Academy of Magic as the new headmaster.
